We cater to the kid inside everyone by serving a few childhood classics, while also appealing to the mature palette with sophisticated variations on the world's most famous sandwich. We are located in the outdoor plaza at the Citigroup Center, on the northeast corner of Lexington Avenue and 53rd Street, and in Chelsea on 26th street between 6th Avenue and Broadway. Come on down and try one of our grilled cheese creations, voted best in NYC. Or swing by in the morning for some coffee and breakfast. We cater and deliver too!
Spencer started his restaurant career at a young age cooking in his parents kitchen. He always had a passion for food and it was clear he would be in the restaurant business in some capacity one day. Spencer worked through a number of positions starting out as a prep cook for a special events company at the age of 14. Since that time, Spencer attended The Hotel School at Cornell University, interned at Union Square Hospitality Group and Restaurant Associates, and worked at BCD as a project manager rolling out fast casual restaurants across the new york metro area. Now, Spencer is venturing out on his own with the support of a team of veterans to launch what will be the planet's best grilled cheese restaurant, Melt Shop.
